To the Light house by Virginia Woolf
As we studies about
modernist literature in styles of writing are different and here best
example of Virginia Woolf novel “To the Lighthouse” published in
1957 and we see that her personal life and how feminist ideas in the
novel.
We
know that Woolf is how to narrate and leave of different connotative
in the novel. We see that in novel, Woolf gives image of her personal
life and how she is complexity of men and women relationship in here.
She is mastery stream of consciousness and how looks at different and
consciously she portrayed of Mrs. Ramsay character. In this novel,
autobiographical element and her relationship to her mother, sister
and father. We can see that in novel also that how she portraitist
every characters in his subconscious level of mind. And mother and
son relations of lovely but also we see that in psychological reading
of that Oedipus complex of James characters. He is not like his
father.
Here we see the
relationships are complicated and problematic. We see in the novel
psychology to describe the unbroken flow of perception thought and
feelings the walking mind of people. We know that human relations and
his mind are what they does in life just knowingly done them.
Virginia tries to showcase them with the help of some characters like
Mrs.Ramsay and Lily Briscoe.
In novel narrative
techniques stream of consciousness and how women are center in novel.
It may be that lily is free women and what does know of art? Why she
paint to Mrs. Ramsay painting? And how biography of Woolf in see that
her family member, brother, sister leave together and she is free
whatever she do that in her life. And here we that one of lily work
of art and relations of society itself in this novel. We see that
Mrs. Ramsay take care and love of family member, conscious desire,
relationships, unfulfilled feeling in novel. And how Woolf different
seated to both characters lily Briscoe and Mrs. Ramsay. And her
famous quote likes "Women Can't Paint, Women can’t write".
It may be see use this narratives technique and how both women
represented of society one is free and second is take care and care
and relations of family member and her desire fulfill and end of that
lily’s vision is end of the painting and vision of Mrs.Ramsay. So
here is a relation and a narrative technique has only Woolf real life
and good and bad experience herself.
You can read and see that Woolf gives image of Mrs.
Ramsay has stereotype character and always caring of family member
and house hold work, netting, perfect house wife and take care of
children. We know that Indian women like this. Same to same of
Mrs.Ramsay and how she care and no any argument and suppress
yourself. In to the lighthouse, we see that lily Briscoe painted
Mrs. Ramsay painting and how she gives image of them. Lily is free
women, and Mrs. Ramsay is not free but always caring and sharing of
people and family. She not think about that own self. Woolf here
critic and lily argument of Mrs. Ramsay but she calm and happily
stereotype nature blame and she say that ‘you not understand me’.
Why draw lily painting of only Mrs.Ramsay and James? Here these
questions in we can say that she is individual things and criticizes
of Virginia Woolf also than she gives image of Mrs. Ramsay portrayed.
We can see that lily’s painting about James and Mrs.Ramsay has
something do and typical women, not free and whatever she do only of
her son. She shut down of near door and she cutting something. When
time passed away she has desire and love of her husband gives respect
for her. She is favors of her and do that what she talk about them.
Indian women has this no any free or individuality herself. She
always there are dependent of her father, son, brother husband.
Here also we see that Mrs. Ramsay is this like. And Woolf also
criticizes and presses of Mrs. Ramsay character. Woolf focuses of
Mrs.Ramsay character and lily’s mind and principle of her life she
do that but and Mrs. Ramsay portrayed has vision of lily and Woolf
vision at end. So we see here Mrs. Ramsay has stereotype Indian
womanhood and at end Woolf gives image of vision in anti- womanhood
at that time lily’ dilemma of Mrs.Ramsay portrayed.
In novel “To the
Lighthouse” is symbolic one. But we see that in novel Woolf gives
and images of Mrs.Ramsay portrayed, here draw of lily Briscoe. She is
single women and free. Her personality and life is individual and
humanity of her relationship to Mrs. Ramsay. So we see in last line
of novel, as chronological way at end and lily speak that “it was
done: it was finished.” Means that she thought that and draws
something in painting. At that time she think that and final stroke
on the canvas with finishing touch. She is walks inside (Mrs.Ramsay’s
house). At that time she thinks and conscious of her mind at say
something creates and she thinks that to Mrs. Ramsay’s words in
first part “Closes door and open windows”. We see that lily is
free and anti-womanhood but in thinks why her memories of Mrs.Ramsay
and her word at end. It may be lily’s vision and she not
understands of Mrs.Ramsay’s life and what she does in this family.
It may be as my perspective only lily’s vision and morality of her
life that’s why she speaks “Closed Doors, and open windows”. In
this sentence she says that “Dearest Briscoe, you are a fool”.
It
means that vision of life itself is illusion and not she understands
of Mrs. Ramsay. It may be she speaks one. It may be vision of lily’s
painting and womanhood, freedom and individuality of lily’s
character, not for typical character of Mrs.Ramsay. According of my
ideas may be that here she speaks that DEAREST Briscoe, you are not
fool but fool is Mrs.Ramsay. Because she leaves life of only caring
to other and not fulfill of her conscious desire, love and vision. At
that she is dying and only people remember them. But Briscoe has not
fool but she fulfill of Mrs. Ramsay’s vision may be the end of the
panting. And Mrs.Ramsay’s emotions and feeling, relations and
humanity, likeness at end of that lily’s speaks this line. So we
can say that vision of lily and Mrs.Ramsay and she fulfill to though
this panting. And she told you are fool Briscoe, is favors and anti
womanhood of novel the end and Woolf has life experience of lily
speaks this sentence.
In
novel, ‘to the lighthouse’ is symbolic and in novel so many
symbols represented to characters. Here we look that Mrs.Ramsay
always preserves something in her life. Her son and daughter like her
own type of personality. And she taught that you do this and do that?
Her order and no any argument she works of James and her daughter.
James cut down to Refrigerator painting, not he likely that he cut
down but Mrs.Ramsay order. In Novel, Mrs.Ramsay always preservation
something and caring of family member itself.
It means that
Mrs.Ramsay has ‘Refrigerator’ as preserves of culture, religious,
household work, traditions and life style of them. It means that
Mrs.Ramsay characters have prevention of her and other. In novel
wrote at that time technology came and it means Woolf use symbol of
refrigerator. Here instrument of science and occupied of same sphere
as technology and war in linked that science and tech. has this war
effect of novel. And War and consumptions are linked in the same
object.
So we see that war and refrigerator has symbols and
Refrigerate is Mrs.Ramsay. War images id bold, death and fight but
may be in this novel. At that time both are symbol and refer in this
novel each and every of scene of novel.
We see that novel begin that Woolf narrated of stream of
consciousness and how here Mrs. Ramsay taught that to her son James
one fairy tale story of Fisherman’s wife. Interpretation this way
the presence of the fairy tale in the novel. And how fisherman story
has to talk about Mrs.Ramsay and challenges of the myth and dangerous
of unopposed female. Fisherman’s wife talk to her husband fisherman
that while need of emotions and feeling of self. It may be Mrs.Ramsay
love, feeling, humanity, caring herself of Mr.Ramsay.
These fishermen
never ask to the sea and his want way to home and this process time
on passing in move way. Fisherman’s wife itself of Mrs.Ramsay and
Mr.Ramsay never achieving and need of Mrs.Ramsay not do that. At
assume of Mrs.Ramsay may be she taught storey of Fisherman’s wife.
And need for self adultraiton and assertion of Mrs.Ramsay. So that’s
why Mrs.Ramsay’s own life and personal life at look that in this
story and maybe she speaks this story.
